A lecturer at Babcock University, Dr Adetutu Habib, has set up a learning hub in Awa-Ijebu, Ogun State, to help students struggling with Mathematics and vocabulary. The project, called Palm Tutors Learning Hub, was donated to the Ijebu North community to mark her recent PhD achievement.
Dr Habib, who works in the university’s Directorate of Research, Innovation and International Cooperation, said the hub is her way of giving back and fulfilling a personal dream. She wants to help children in underserved areas build strong numeracy, literacy, and godly values. The centre is a conducive space where children can learn at their own pace. Dr Habib started this journey in 2021 with a teen club in the area and later shared 50 books with its members in 2023. Excited, Dr Habib expressed optimism that the centre will raise confident and academically strong teenagers who can positively impact their community and the world.
