Benue State Government has placed an immediate ban on graduation ceremonies in all kindergarten, nursery, and primary schools across the state.
The directive was confirmed by the Acting Commissioner for Education and Knowledge Management, Mrs Helen Nambativ, who spoke to newsmen recently in Makurdi. She warned that schools that flout the new policy will face sanctions, including possible temporary closure. Nambativ, who also serves as the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, said the policy is part of broader reforms aimed at sanitising the education sector at the foundational level. She described the move as people-focused and targeted at reducing the financial burden on parents.
