Bingham University, Karu, has hosted its inaugural Train-the-Trainers Workshop through the Ambassador Bulus Lolo Centre for Diplomacy, Peace, Conflict and Plural Studies (ABLC), sponsored by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS). The two-day event brought together facilitators, resource persons, and participants committed to strengthening peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills across Nigeria.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Haruna Kuje Ayuba, praised KAS for its support and highlighted the importance of training in conflict analysis, negotiation, and mediation in the face of rising global tensions. He also honoured Ambassador Bulus Lolo for his contributions to international diplomacy and peacebuilding.
Ambassador Lolo, in a keynote titled “Optimising Preventive Diplomacy for Peace and Stability in Africa,” stressed that early intervention and ethical leadership are essential to managing conflicts before they escalate. He linked recurring crises in regions such as Benue, Southern Kaduna, and Plateau to weak institutions and delayed responses.
Other speakers included Ambassador Segun Ogunyanwo, who emphasised the role of justice and ethical leadership in sustaining peace, as well as experts from the University of Abuja, the National Defence College, and the Institute for Peace and Conflict Resolution.
The workshop aimed to equip participants with practical skills while fostering networks for long-term peacebuilding and governance across Nigeria and the African continent.
