Prof Babagana Zulum, Borno State Governor
Borno State Governor, Prof Babagana Zulum, has approved ₦1 billion for the immediate take-off of the Federal University of Agriculture and Entrepreneurship in Bama.
The announcement came on Monday during a visit by an inter-ministerial delegation from the Federal Ministry of Education, the National Universities Commission, and the Budget Office.
The university, established following a bill signed into law by President Bola Tinubu on May 22, 2025, will begin operations using the former Umar Ibn Ibrahim Elkanemi College of Education, Science and Technology.
Zulum directed the state’s Commissioner for Education to identify priority areas to channel the funds and pledged additional support, including staff housing.
“The federal government announced the establishment of the university, but the state must provide the enabling environment for its immediate take-off,” Zulum said, adding that the institution will serve the people of Borno State.
The federal delegation, led by Hajiya Rakiya Gambo Iliyasu, Director of University Education, confirmed that the facility is ready for operations and that staff verification would proceed.
The event was attended by top state officials, including the Deputy Governor, Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan and members of the State Executive Council.
