Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology (BOUESTI), Ikere-Ekiti, has inaugurated an Innovation and Technology Hub to advance students’ digital skills, creativity, and entrepreneurship.
The facility, known as TechHub BOUESTI, was initiated by a 400-level Computer Science student, Michael Olukayode (Mikaelson), and unveiled with the support of the university’s management. At the launch, Olukayode said the hub would provide a platform for students to collaborate, build solutions, and prepare for emerging technological opportunities.
The hub will serve as a learning and incubation centre offering workshops, training programmes, developer communities, and innovation-focused projects. It also aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those promoting quality education and industry-driven innovation.
Representatives of the Vice-Chancellor, faculty members, guest speakers, and students attended the unveiling.
Cybersecurity consultant Samuel Afolabi delivered a keynote address titled “What I Will Tell My Younger Self in Cybersecurity,” urging students to prioritise digital security skills.
