The Senate of Bayero University, Kano, has recommended Professor Ahmad Muhammad Tsauni, Director of Bayero University Press, for appointment as the next Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics).
The recommendation was made during the 428th meeting of the University Senate held on Thursday, October 2 2025, and will be forwarded to the University Governing Council for approval at its next sitting.
The position became vacant following the appointment of Professor Haruna Musa as the 12th Vice-Chancellor of the institution.
At the same meeting, the Senate also elected Professor Ummu A. Jalingo as its representative on the University’s Governing Council.
Professor Tsauni, a Professor of Economics, has been with the University for over two decades. He joined as a Graduate Assistant in 2004 and rose to the rank of Professor in 2019.
He has held several key academic and administrative roles, including Head of the Department of Economics and Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences.
As Director of Bayero University Press, he has championed academic publishing and research dissemination within the University.
