The 2025 Festival of Art and Discourse (FOAD) will take place from September 25 to 27 at the University of Regina in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Organisers said the three-day event, themed “Intersect & Intertwine”, will bring together more than 60 presenters from about 10 countries across four continents. Participants include academics, artists and activists from Nigeria, Canada, the United States, Ecuador, Germany and the United Kingdom.
The festival is directed by Professor Taiwo Afolabi, who also leads the Centre for Socially Engaged Theatre (C-SET) at the University of Regina. He said the gathering reflects strong international partnerships and provides “a framework to explore the complex, nuanced and layered nature of art, disciplines, and human relationships.”
The programme will feature performances, film screenings, workshops, plenary sessions and paper presentations. Nigerian participants include Dr Abayomi Adegbamigbe of Adekunle Ajasin University, Dr Oluyinka Smart Babalola of the University of Ibadan, and actor and lecturer Hafiz Oyetoro of Lagos State University.
Keynote speakers will include Dr Emily Grafton from the University of Manitoba, Erin Oldford of the Hill and Levene School of Business, and Rhonda Rosenburg, Executive Director at the University of Manitoba.
