Captain Evarest Nnaji conferred with honorary doctorate by Godfrey Okoye University
Aviation entrepreneur and philanthropist, Captain Evarest Nnaji, has been awarded an honorary doctorate by Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu, in recognition of his extensive contributions to education, philanthropy, and community development. The honour was conferred during the institution’s 13th convocation ceremony.
The University commended Nnaji for a life defined by sacrifice, hard work, and sustained commitment to human development. According to the citation, he has funded scholarships for hundreds of indigent students from secondary school through University and supported numerous patients by offsetting medical bills at several hospitals.
Nnaji has also played an active role in the University’s expansion, joining the Board of the Godfrey Okoye University Teaching Hospital in October 2025 following approval from the institution’s proprietor, Bishop Callistus Onaga.
In his remarks, Nnaji described the recognition as deeply meaningful, expressing gratitude to the university leadership and paying tribute to his family for their support.
He urged students to stay disciplined, work hard, and maintain belief in their ambitions. He noted that the honour serves as a renewed call to public service and a commitment to empowering young people.
The Vice-Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Prof. Christian Aneke, and Bishop Onaga both acknowledged Nnaji’s longstanding dedication to the institution’s progress.
