China, UK Partner to Establish Research Centre in Awka

The Chartered Institute of Educational Practitioners, United Kingdom (CIEPUK), has announced plans to establish a Global Southern Studies/Research Centre (GSSRC) at Paul University, Awka, in partnership with Soochow University, China.

The centre, set for inauguration on October 17 at the Nwawka Auditorium, will serve as a hub for research, innovation, and international collaboration across the Global South.

According to CIEPUK, the initiative aims to strengthen academic cooperation in areas such as technology, climate change, agriculture, health sciences, social development, and cultural exchange. Officials from the partner institutions described the project as a landmark in academic diplomacy and a practical model for South-South collaboration.

CIEPUK’s Global President, Marcel Ezenwoye, who also directs the Pre-degree Programme at Paul University, said the centre would foster research-driven solutions to development challenges.
