Chrisland University Hosts Historic Health-Sciences Inductions

NYSC Enterprise Lab trains, graduate 32 corps members

Chrisland University, Abeokuta, will hold three consecutive professional induction ceremonies this month, welcoming graduates in Medical Laboratory Science (October 22), Nursing Science (October 24), and the nation’s first cohort of Doctor of Physiotherapy (October 25 2025).

The events mark a milestone in Nigerian health sciences education, with the Doctor of Physiotherapy induction representing the country’s inaugural formal graduation in the field. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oyedunni Sola Arulogun, said the series demonstrates the university’s commitment to professional excellence, innovation, and global standards, preparing graduates for leadership in prevention, diagnosis, rehabilitation, and patient-centred care.

Professors Augustine Onyeaghala and Funmilayo Okanlawon, deans of the Faculties of Basic Medical Sciences and Nursing, highlighted the programmes’ focus on competence, ethics, and community impact. They noted that the Medical Laboratory Science induction emphasises laboratory precision and diagnostics, Nursing Science reinforces compassionate clinical practice, and the Doctor of Physiotherapy induction advances rehabilitation science and interprofessional teamwork.

Dignitaries from regulatory bodies, including the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria, and the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board, are expected to attend. The week-long series positions Chrisland University at the forefront of integrated health-sciences education, producing professionals equipped to strengthen both local and global health systems.
