The College of Education (COE) Zuba, Abuja, has successfully trained 5,320 primary school teachers across the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) under a series of retraining programmes aimed at improving teaching quality.
The Director of the Consultant Services Unit (CSU), Dr Moshood Bello, disclosed this during a stewardship accountability presentation at the college. He explained that the initiative, carried out in collaboration with the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), ran between 2023 and 2025 as part of the institution’s outreach to public schools.
According to him, the beneficiaries comprised 5,000 classroom teachers, 200 head teachers, and 120 support officers drawn from basic education schools within the territory.
Meanwhile, the provost of the college, Dr Sule Mundi, inaugurated newly appointed deans, directors, and heads of departments who will oversee the institution’s operations for the next two years.
He also honoured about 30 retired staff members for their years of service. One of the retirees, Dr Obadiah Salamatu, a former chief lecturer, expressed gratitude to the college, describing her time at the institution as fulfilling and supportive.
