The Kwara State Government has received the report of the committee tasked with designing a blueprint for the smooth coexistence of the Kwara State College of Education (COED), Ilorin, and the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWASUED).
At the presentation ceremony in Ilorin, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu, described the report as thorough and well-detailed.
She assured that it would be forwarded to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for immediate consideration and pledged that the recommendations would be “implemented to the letter.”
The commissioner commended the governor for providing the logistics that enabled the committee to deliver its assignment, noting that the establishment of KWASUED was aimed at expanding access to university education, producing more qualified teachers, and aligning the state’s educational growth with national goals.
Committee Chairman, Alhaji Abdulrahman Tunde Sidiq, expressed appreciation to the governor for his “visionary leadership” in creating KWASUED and approving the committee.
He described the report as comprehensive, evidence-based, and forward-looking, adding that faithful implementation of its recommendations would strengthen peaceful coexistence between the two institutions and foster sustainable teacher education in Kwara State.
The 13-member committee, inaugurated on August 18, 2025, included government officials, union leaders, and senior officers of both institutions.
Its mandate covered facility sharing, transitional challenges, and long-term strategies for coexistence. The committee also prayed for the speedy establishment of KWASUED’s permanent site, which would consolidate the governor’s educational vision.
