COOU Vows Commitment to Food Security

The Vice-Chancellor of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Prof Kate Omenugha, has restated the institution’s commitment to food security and sustainable agriculture during a courtesy visit by the Taenprowiz Fish Production Business System and Technology team.

The delegation, led by coordinator Emeka Iloghalu, was on campus for the launch and training of 200 Anambra youths on table-fish production. Iloghalu said the initiative is designed to tackle persistent challenges in fish farming and equip young people with practical skills for self-reliance in aquaculture.

The Director of Entrepreneurship, Prof Uzoka, described the partnership as strategic, noting that COOU has been engaging with ECOWAS on fish production and that students have consistently benefited from Iloghalu’s expertise. He praised his commitment, adding that his work has earned him state recognition in driving local fish production.

Omenugha thanked the Taenprowiz team and ECOWAS for their support for agricultural development. She stated that the University’s “Healthy Living Farm” reinforces its sustainability efforts and aligns with global goals on zero hunger and poverty reduction.
She added that COOU’s Value, Viability and Visibility agenda positions the institution to deepen innovation, entrepreneurship, and food security for the long term.
