The Government of the Czech Republic has opened applications for its 2026/2027 scholarship programme for students from selected developing countries.
The initiative, part of the country’s foreign development cooperation, will support full-time study at public universities. More than 20,000 foreign nationals have benefited from the scheme since the late 1950s.
According to the guidelines, eligible applicants must be citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Ukraine, Belarus (democratic forces), Ethiopia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Zambia, Cambodia, Sri Lanka, Guatemala, or Jordan.
Scholarships cover bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies depending on the applicant’s background.
Options include programmes taught in Czech, along with a one-year preparatory language course or in English. Applicants for English-taught courses must complete an online language test.
The awards are intended solely for foreign nationals from the listed countries. Citizens of the Czech Republic, European Union states, or those with permanent residency in the Czech Republic are not eligible.
Applications must be submitted electronically through the official scholarship portal. Successful candidates will begin studies in the 2026/2027 academic year.
The deadline for submission is September 30, 2025.
