Durham University enters into a partnership with the MarcoPolo700 Foundation
Durham University in England has collaborated with the MarcoPolo700 Foundation to establish an East-West Institute in Durham and Hong Kong.
Both institutions signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, underscoring a partnership that integrates technology and cultural entrepreneurship with research and higher education in the arts and humanities.
The Pioneer Institute, supported by innovative AI and digital technologies, will explore the histories and cultures of the East and West for a new generation in Hong Kong and across the Greater Bay Area.
In addition, the institute will serve as a centre for developing an educational pathway for young people in the East-West region, from high school through university and beyond, and will partner with universities and cultural institutions in the Greater Bay Area.
