FG Introduces Education Policies

Dr. Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education

The federal government (FG) has unveiled three education policies to protect students, modernise the Nigerian education sector, and enhance learning outcomes.

The policies include the National Teachers Policy, Guidelines Against Drug and Substance Use in Schools, and the National Policy on Almajiri Education.

Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, emphasised that the reforms are intended to improve teaching standards, prevent children from drug abuse, and integrate Almajiri learners into the formal education system.

He added that the policies, which align with the Renewed Hope Agenda, are designed to deliver measurable improvements across communities.
In support, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad Said stated, “The era of out-of-school Almajiri children is over if states act decisively.”

She added that state governments also play a role in ensuring the policies are successful.
