The Federal Ministry of Education has debunked a rumour spreading online about Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), describing it as a “sponsored smear campaign.” Dr Tunji Alausa, in a statement released on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, said the rumour is being circulated by an unknown group called the Education Rights Activists Coalition (ERAC).
Highlighting Garba’s achievements so far, Alausa stated that she has handled UBEC with integrity and competence. The ministry, in agreement, noted that Garba has brought significant transformation to the UBEC, as the commission has renovated over 3,000 classrooms and built 5,000.
