Past members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), who were promised PhD scholarship funds by former President Goodluck Jonathan in March 2015, have yet to receive them. Speaking with newsmen, one of the promised eighty-four NYSC members said the Jonathan administration failed to fulfil its promise after several protests.
“In 2015, the Goodluck Jonathan administration received us under the NYSC Presidential Awards Programme and promised to sponsor our education up to PhD level in any university of our choice around the world.” They added that while it was challenging to get the funds for their Master’s Degree, it has become even tougher to get the funds for their PhD.
