The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) states that it is considering a leadership-based approach to tackling internet fraud among young Nigerians.
EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, disclosed this on Thursday when he received the Director-General of the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre (CLTC), Rinsola Abiola, and her team at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.
Olukoyede said the EFCC plans to strengthen collaboration with the CLTC to promote youth enlightenment programmes that instil integrity, discipline, and leadership values as long-term strategies against cybercrime.
He acknowledged the Commission’s long-standing relationship with the CLTC. He expressed readiness to expand it in ways that build “leaders of tomorrow” while reducing the lure of fraudulent activities among youths.
The EFCC boss also revealed that the Commission is establishing a dedicated Cybercrime Research and Control Centre to address internet fraud comprehensively and enhance its preventive initiatives nationwide.
