Dr. Monisoye Sola Afolabi, former Director of UNILORIN’s COMSIT
Dr Monisoye Sola Afolabi, former Director of UNILORIN’s Computer, Information Management and Technology Centre (COMSIT), has been recognised by the Nigeria Computer Society (NCS) for his decades of leadership and contributions to Nigeria’s IT sector.
Dr Afolabi led COMSIT from 1982 to 1989 and later served as the pioneer Director of the ECOWAS Community Computer Centre in Lome, Togo, from 1989 to 2010. He also serves as the National President of the Omupo Descendants Union (OMU).
The award was presented during the 2025 Nigeria Information Technology Merit Awards (NITMA) at the MUSON Centre, Lagos, in recognition of his vision, dedication, and impact on the growth of the IT profession in Nigeria and West Africa.
Dr Afolabi expressed gratitude to NCS, describing the recognition as an honour for his longstanding service to technology and professional development across the region.
