UNILORIN Students Organise Free Medical Outreach for Ayegbami, Ibagun Residents
Medical students from the University of Ilorin, under the banner of the Ilorin University Medical Students Association (ILUMSA), partnered with Ayegbami Community, Alagbado, Okelele in Ilorin East LGA, to provide free medical screenings on Tuesday, December 3, 2025.
The initiative also included distributing medications to 500 residents and referring them to health facilities as needed.
The outreach formed part of activities marking ILUMSA’s 40th anniversary. Alhaji Saadu Salahudeen, Senior Adviser/Counsellor to the Kwara State Governor, highlighted the importance of primary healthcare and commended both the medical students and the University for their contributions to community wellbeing.
ILUMSA President, Mr Toheeb AbdulGaniyu, expressed satisfaction with the turnout, emphasising that the programme aims to improve the health of the communities benefiting from it.
Team lead Oreoluwa Adeniyi acknowledged the support of the Senior Adviser and the community leaders for ensuring a smooth and successful event.
The outreach attracted several dignitaries, including Alangua Ibagun, Alh Sakariyahu Ilufemiloye, the Senior Special Assistant on Religion (Islam) to the Governor, Alh Ibrahim Danmaigoro; the Ilorin East LGA Chairman’s representative, Hajia Nafisat AbdulRaheem; Supervisor for Health, Alhaja Bolaji Sanni; and the Regional Editor of LEADERSHIP Newspapers, Alh Abdullahi Olesin.
