UNILORIN Faculty Commissions New Administrative, Classroom Buildings

The Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ilorin has officially taken possession of a newly completed administrative block and four additional classroom blocks, each designed to accommodate 100 students.


The handover ceremony took place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at the project sites.
Dean of the Faculty, Prof. A.Y. Muhammed, described the facilities as a testament to the University Administration’s commitment to providing world-class learning and working environments.


He urged staff and students to take responsibility for the proper use and maintenance of the new structures while calling for continued support from University management.


The Director of the Physical Planning Unit, Mr Abdulrahman Toyin Jimoh, noted that the buildings were constructed to international standards and equipped with solar-powered systems, water facilities, and strategically placed fire extinguishers.


Consultants Arc. David Ajayi and Arc. Ajibade Ayodeji highlighted the use of high-quality, durable materials to ensure long-term utility.
The University Fire Service Unit Head, Mr Ibrahim O. AbdulRasaq, stressed the importance of regularly maintaining fire safety equipment and cautioned against its misuse.


Dignitaries at the event included the Director of Works, Mr Ramoni Kolawole Amoo (represented by Mr Robert Emmanuel), as well as heads of departments and faculty staff.
