Technology experts and educators have called for the urgent enforcement of cybersecurity policies to protect Nigerians, particularly children, from online harm and moral exploitation.
The call was made in Lagos at an event marking the 2025 Cybersecurity Awareness Day, organised by Levi EduTech, a digital solutions agency focused on cybersecurity and online education.
The event, themed “Stay Safe Online,” brought together more than 200 teachers, ICT professionals, and policymakers at the University of Lagos to discuss digital safety, moral responsibility, and online ethics among young people.
The highlight was the finale of the Cybersmart Educators Initiative (CEI) 1.0, a Levi EduTech programme that trained 140 teachers from public and private schools on integrating cybersecurity practices into classrooms.
Levi EduTech’s Media and Marketing Manager, Pastor Sehinde Johnson, said more than ₦45 million was invested in the project, describing it as “a national investment in Nigeria’s future.”
Professor Boniface Alese of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, urged schools to adopt structured cybersecurity systems, warning that “Nigerian schools must act fast to protect children and institutional data.”
Awards were also presented to outstanding educators, while Levi EduTech unveiled the Cybersmart Club Initiative to promote digital ethics and responsible technology use among students nationwide.
