FCT Teachers to Join NANS Protest Over Primary School Closure

Teachers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have decided to join the National Association of Nigerian Students’ (NANS) protest scheduled for Wednesday, July 2, 2025, over the closure of public primary schools in the capital city.

While announcing the planned mass protest, NANS described the school closure as an injustice to Nigerian children. The protest is a follow-up demonstration after the seven-day ultimatum issued to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, yielded no results. The ultimatum was issued due to the closure of schools for over two months, resulting from lingering issues between the FCT administration and the Local Government Education Authorities.
