Federal Government Approves N158b to Boost Technical, Vocational Education

The Federal Government has allocated N158 billion to support technical and vocational education training (TVET) in the country.

The announcement was made by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad, at the 42nd convocation and 50th anniversary celebration of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).

The initiative is designed to empower at least 650,000 Nigerian youths with the technical, vocational, and digital skills necessary to meet the demands of emerging industries and the labour market.  According to the Minister, this investment highlights the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration to improving the welfare and future of young Nigerians.

Aside from the TVET, the minister highlighted the provision of electricity to several universities, including Usmanu Danfodiyo University, through the Rural Electrification Agency. This project is expected to create a more conducive learning environment and enhance academic productivity for students and faculty.
