ASUU Demands Feedback from Federal Government

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has requested a response from the federal government (FG) about their demands.

Responding to ASUU’s strike, Jibrin Barau, the Deputy Senate President, said the National Assembly is ready to settle the ongoing conflict between the union and the federal governmentto prevent it from intensifying.

Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, added that the federal government is about to finalise its discussions with ASUU and other associations.

He explained that their meeting will centre around implementing the 2009 ASUU-FGN agreement, funding, and welfare issues. According to the minister, the federal government has disbursed ₦50 million to pay Earned Academic Allowances, and ₦150 million is included in the 2025 budget for needs assessment.
