The Federal Government has begun distributing over 800 interactive smart boards to primary and secondary schools across Nigeria as part of efforts to modernise classroom teaching.
Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, launched the initiative on Friday at Queen’s College, Lagos, explaining that it aligns with the government’s goal of introducing digital technology into the education system.
He said the smart boards will replace traditional chalkboards and make lessons more engaging, interactive, and effective for both teachers and students. The technology, he noted, will allow teachers to use multimedia tools, digital textbooks, and real-time interaction in their classrooms.
Dr Alausa added that the move represents a significant step toward transforming Nigeria’s education system to meet the needs of the digital age. “We are building a knowledge-driven society where learners engage, explore, and create,” he said, assuring that more schools will benefit from the program nationwide.
