Federal Government ExpandsEntrepreneurship Scheme to Bauchi Polytechnic

The Federal Ministry of Finance has extended its Youth Enterprise with Innovation in Nigeria (YouWiN) scheme to students of the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, as part of efforts to curb youth unemployment and reduce reliance on government jobs.

At a sensitisation session on campus, officials disclosed that the second phase of YouWiN Connect would soon be launched, with the polytechnic among its first beneficiaries. The scheme offers training, mentorship, and support to young entrepreneurs, enabling them to turn their ideas into viable businesses.

The institution’s Registrar, Alhaji Kasimu Salihu, described the initiative as “timely,” urging students to use the opportunity to become job creators rather than seekers. Facilitator Ms Deborah Jacthan Tatimi said the platform would help students develop workable business ideas and ease pressure on government employment.

Muhammad Sani Yahaya, Director of Finance and Accounts at the ministry, praised student participation and said the programme would contribute to building a more self-reliant economy.

Students received a 196-page guidebook to support their entrepreneurial journey.
