Federal Government Pledges Better Training for Teachers

Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa.

The Federal Government has promised to improve the training and motivation of teachers across Nigeria. Education Minister, Dr Tunji Alausa, made this known at the 2025 KADA EduPACT Summit in Kaduna. He said teachers are the heart of any real education reform and must be adequately equipped to do their jobs.

The Minister revealed that the Federal Government was already making efforts to strengthen the Teachers Registration Council as well as improve teacher quality through a new internship and quality framework. Dr Alausa poured encomium on the Governor and the Kaduna State government for taking bold steps in education, including reducing school fees, investing in local universities, and launching a $62 million basic education project.

The Minister added that Nigeria’s education system should focus on learners, fairness, digital skills, and sustainability. He urged other states to adopt Kaduna’s approach of utilising data and partnerships to enhance education. “We must make sure no child is left behind,” he said.
