Dr. Tunji Alausa, Minister of Education, at the launching of ACE Alliance
The federal government (FG) has launched the Africa Centres of Excellence (ACE) Alliance, an umbrella group for all 20 ACE Centres in Nigeria.
Speaking at the launch, Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, stated that the launch is a milestone that will aid visibility, collaboration, and global competitiveness.
He elaborated that the ACE Project was funded by the World Bank and Agence Française de Développement (AFD) in partnership with the Federal Government, and that it aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Emphasising the joint funding, he said, “It showcases how strategic partnerships can propel sustainable growth and cement Nigeria’s leadership in higher education across the continent.”
Over the years, ACE has expanded into 11 African countries, with Nigeria owning 17 centres.
Prof. Abdullahi Ribadu, the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), said the ACE’s research results have contributed to policy innovations, market-ready solutions, and the issuance of patents.
