FG kicks off TVET training for Nigerians to boost skilled workforce
The federal government (FG) has opened 1,600 technical and vocational centres across Nigeria, equipped to accommodate the 1.3 million Nigerians who have completed their applications.
Dr Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, said that to strengthen the technical and vocational education in the country, the FG has written to industrial and manufacturing firms, including Eko Hotels, MTN, Dangote Cement, Transcorp, and Oando.
The minister noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu launched the training in alignment with the Renewed Hope Agenda to address Nigeria’s persistent skills gap.
He added that training activities are underway at the 1,600 centres, providing youth with hands-on skills in construction, agriculture, technology, the digital economy, energy, automotive services, and manufacturing.
