Education Minister Tunji Alausa’s official visit to University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST)
The Federal Government has partnered with the University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) to modernise Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Nigeria.
The move follows Education Minister Tunji Alausa’s official visit to the Qatari institution to strengthen industry-ready skills for the Nigerian workforce.
The partnership will include faculty exchanges and train-the-trainer programmes, enabling Nigerian instructors to gain advanced skills in welding, plumbing, HVAC, electrical installation, and solar photovoltaic technology.
UDST will also assist Nigeria in establishing a quality assurance framework to ensure that technical certificates, diplomas, and degrees meet global standards, improving the mobility and credibility of Nigerian TVET graduates.
Additionally, the collaboration will leverage UDST’s entrepreneurship and innovation centres to support youth enterprise development, including incubation programmes for micro-entrepreneurs, SMEs, and high-growth startups.
Alausa emphasised that the initiative reflects the Federal Government’s commitment to building a skilled, future-ready workforce aligned with international best practices. During the visit, he toured UDST’s Certificate School, lauding its competency-based, industry-focused training as a model for transforming Nigeria’s TVET system.
