Chief (Mrs) Mojisola Ladipo, former Registrar of the University of Ibadan, has emphasised the central role of university registries in connecting students with management, stating that the welfare of students, academic, and non-teaching staff depends mainly on the effectiveness of registry personnel.
Speaking as a guest lecturer at the FUNAAB Registry Annual Lecture Series in Abeokuta, Mrs Ladipo urged registries to embrace digital transformation, warning that reliance on manual systems could compromise the integrity of records. She described registries as custodians of critical information for admissions, convocations, and staff matters, stressing that staff should actively participate in institutional decision-making.
“Registry staff should treat students as their most important customers,” she said, calling on university management to recognise outstanding personnel and shift the perception of registries from bottlenecks to the backbone of institutions.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde commended Mrs Ladipo as “a seasoned administrator and role model,” and praised Registrar Dr Titus Adeniyi for raising standards in FUNAAB’s registry within one year.
The lecture, attended by registry staff from institutions across Ogun and Lagos states, highlighted professional excellence, innovation, and registries’ contributions to shaping university operations and student experiences.
