FUNAAB Leads National Push for Skills, Employability with Maiden Career Fair
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), hosted its first Skill-Driven Career Fair from 25–26 November 2025, connecting students with industry leaders, policymakers, and entrepreneurs to improve employability and support youth-led ventures.
The fair, organised in partnership with the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the SKYE II Programme funded by the German and Swiss development agencies, included skills seminars, prototype pitching, and interactive exhibitions. Over 300 students participated, gaining exposure to potential employers and mentorship opportunities. Three student-led ventures secured follow-up support and funding from participating firms, including local agritech and manufacturing companies.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Babatunde Kehinde described the initiative as part of FUNAAB’s efforts to align academic training with labour-market demands, noting the importance of digital skills, problem-solving, and ethical grounding for graduates. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development) Prof. Olawale Dairo added that the university’s programmes aim not only to prepare students for employment but also to enable them to create jobs and innovate within their communities.
Industry participants included Wafroex, CWAY Nigeria Dairy, and 720Degree Technology Ltd., with an industry–academia roundtable held to discuss strategies for youth employment.
FUNAAB officials said the fair sets a benchmark for higher education institutions seeking to link skills development with practical career opportunities.
