Fountain University, Osogbo, has promoted Dr Kazeem Alabi, a lecturer in the College of Chemical and Applied Sciences, as the institution’s first Professor of Organic Chemistry.
The announcement, made Monday, December 8, 2025, marks the culmination of Alabi’s 14-year academic service at the University since joining in 2011.
The University’s Governing Council, through a statement by PR Officer Taoheed Alimi, said the promotion recognises Alabi’s “outstanding contributions” to Organic Chemistry and commitment to the University’s growth. Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olayinka Karim and Registrar Sherrif Adenekan congratulated him, praising his academic discipline and dedication.
Born on March 3, 1972, in Ilobu, Osun State, Alabi earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry from the Federal University of Technology, Akure. His research spans natural product chemistry, reaction mechanisms, dye synthesis, and bioactive compounds, with publications in local and international journals.
He has supervised undergraduate and postgraduate projects and held leadership roles, including Acting Head of Department and Director of Sub-Degree Programmes.
Alabi thanked his family and supporters, noting that the achievement was a collective effort. He urged younger members of his family to pursue excellence, saying, “The sky is not your limit; it is only the beginning of what you can achieve through hard work, dedication and prayer.”
