FUOYE Hosts 2025 Communication, Media Conference


Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) will host its 1st International Conference of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies (FCMS) from Thursday, 27th to Friday, November 28 2025, at the Fasina Conference Centre.


Themed “Navigating Change: Interdisciplinary Perspectives on Communication, Society and Development in Africa,” the two-day event will convene scholars, media professionals, students, policy makers and development partners to explore how communication and media practice can respond to rapid social, technological, and economic changes across the continent.


Sessions will address media and democracy, digital communication, strategic development communication, culture and identity, and the future of media education in Africa. Participants will share research, practical insights, and innovative approaches to communication for national development.


The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sunday Abayomi Fasina, will serve as Chief Host, with Prof. Chika Asogwa, Dean of FCMS, coordinating the programme alongside the Local Organising Committee, chaired by Prof. A. Aderibigbe. Keynote speakers include Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie (Caleb University), Prof. C. S. Okunna (Paul University, Awka), and Prof. Oke Leke (Ekiti State University), offering expertise in development communication, media management, and political communication.


The conference will provide networking, mentorship and practical exposure for students while strengthening links between academia and industry.
