Katsina State Governor Dikko Radda has credited the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with playing a decisive role in closing manpower gaps and accelerating development across key sectors in the state.
Speaking at the swearing-in of the 2025 Batch ‘C’ Stream 1 corps members at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Radda, represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Engr. Suraj Yazid, said the state’s progress in education and healthcare would have been significantly slower without the steady contribution of corps members.
He noted that NYSC personnel remain central to community development initiatives, particularly in rural areas where they lead critical interventions through Community Development Service (CDS) projects.
Radda urged the new corps members to maintain the high performance benchmarks set by their predecessors and align themselves with Katsina’s development priorities. He cautioned them to avoid cultism, political or religious intolerance, and other forms of misconduct, reminding them of their oath and the NYSC motto: Service to Humanity.
Katsina NYSC Coordinator, Ibrahim Saidu, disclosed that 1,195 corps members, 695 males and 499 females, had registered for the three-week orientation exercise. He said the programme includes entrepreneurship and skills-acquisition training to drive self-reliance and position participants for long-term economic empowerment.
