FUOYE Hosts 21st Inaugural Lecture on Land, Soil

Prof. Temitope Seun Babalola, delivered FUOYE’s 2025 Inaugural Lecture


Federal University Oye-Ekiti will hold its 21st Inaugural Lecture on Thursday, December 18 2025, featuring Prof. Temitope Seun Babalola, a leading scholar in pedology.


The lecture, titled “The Story of Land and Soil: A Pedologist’s Pursuit of Productivity,” will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the New 1000-Seater Hall on the Oye-Ekiti campus.


The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has invited academics, policymakers, agricultural experts, environmental stakeholders, and the public to participate. The session will spotlight Babalola’s extensive research on soil formation, management, and conservation, focusing on how informed soil use can strengthen food security, enhance sustainable development, and improve community livelihoods.


Babalola is expected to underline the soil’s central role in national development, particularly its relevance to climate resilience, environmental protection, and agricultural productivity.


The Vice-Chancellor will chair the event, highlighting FUOYE’s drive to deliver practical solutions to Nigeria’s agricultural challenges through research.
