The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina, resumed duties on Tuesday after a six-month research leave to a warm reception from students, staff and alumni.
The stakeholders, including NASU, NAAT, and SSANU members, lauded the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership and called for continued peace on campus to sustain development.
FUOYE Alumni President, Mr Arogundade Temitope, described Fasina as “an enigma and a visionary leader” whose return would further advance the university’s progress.
Similarly, NANS South-West Vice President, Comrade Owolabi Taiwo, urged all campus unions to maintain peace, warning that students would resist any attempt to disrupt academic activities.
NASU and NAAT leaders, Comrades Ayeni Abraham and Babafemi Olusola, said their members turned out in solidarity with the Vice-Chancellor, whom they trust to prioritise staff welfare. Addressing the crowd, Fasina thanked the university community for their support, pledging to consolidate his achievements in his remaining four months in office. He emphasised that peace remains vital for continued growth and promised more developmental projects.
