The Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Professor Olubunmi Shittu, has issued a desperate appeal to striking non-academic staff to suspend their industrial action and return to dialogue.
Workers under SSANU, NAAT, and NASU have refused to go back to work as a result of delayed salaries, unpaid relocation allowances, and other welfare issues, causing disruptions to the university’s operations.
Professor Shittu, addressing the unions, urged them to prioritise the institution’s future over personal grievances. “Salary is not intentional, and I want to appeal to you even as I take responsibility as a leader for all your agitations,” he said.
He assured the workers that the management is not ignoring their plight but is committed to finding solutions. The Vice-Chancellor stressed that FUOYE belongs to everyone and called for collective effort in resolving disputes to safeguard the university’s growth and stability.
