The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Transportation, Daura (FUTD), Prof Umar Adam Katsayal, has called for stronger collaboration with aviation stakeholders to strengthen manpower development and capacity in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Speaking at the centenary celebration of the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) recently, Katsayal urged institutions such as the Caliphate Aviation Training Centre and the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to partner with FUTD to drive innovation and professional growth in the industry.
He commended the Caliphate Aviation Training Centre for organising the event but lamented the sector’s slow progress despite its century-long history. “We are talking about 100 years; we must look back and assess our achievements and challenges,” he said.
Katsayal emphasised that FUTD was established to fill manpower gaps across the transport sector and is ready to collaborate with relevant stakeholders to enhance research, training and policy development in aviation and other transport-related fields.
