FUTMINNA Male Football Team at the 27th NUGA
The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) clinched the men’s football title at the 27th NUGA Games with a 2-1 win over Ekiti State University (EKSU) in Friday’s final hosted by the University of Jos.
In a tight contest, FUTMINNA struck late to secure victory, capping off an impressive run in the tournament. EKSU, who had enjoyed a strong campaign, were forced to settle for silver, while Kaduna State University (KASU) took bronze.
FUTMINNA booked their spot in the final with a narrow 2-1 win over Taraba State University in the semi-finals. The Minna side showed discipline and sharp finishing under pressure to edge out their opponents.
EKSU reached the final after an authoritative 3-1 win over KASU. Their clinical forward line delivered a standout performance, earning them a place in the title match.
The third-place playoff saw KASU earn a medal for their efforts, rebounding from the semi-final loss to seal bronze.
With FUTMINNA’s triumph, the men’s football tournament delivered drama and quality, offering a glimpse of emerging talent in university football across Nigeria.
