Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State has signed an agreement for a strategic partnership with Michigan State University (MSU) in the United States to establish a world-class Faculty of Agriculture at Gombe State University (GSU). The deal, sealed with a Letter of Intent, is viewed as a significant step toward enhancing agricultural education and research in the state.
The partnership will encompass joint research, curriculum development, student and staff exchange programs, as well as projects in sustainable farming, water management, renewable energy, and land restoration. Top MSU officials, including senior professors in agricultural engineering and international programmes, were present at the signing.
Governor Yahaya said the collaboration will transform agriculture in Gombe and bring long-term benefits to students, farmers, and researchers. He also noted that the partnership will provide MSU staff and students with the opportunity to learn from Africa’s rapidly growing agricultural sector.
This move is part of the state’s wider plan to use education and technology as tools for sustainable development.
