In a significant move to support education, Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has approved the payment of National Examination Council (NECO) registration fees for more than 24,000 final-year students in public secondary schools across the state.
This initiative, marking the second consecutive year of such support, aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents and ensure that all eligible students, regardless of their state of origin, can sit for the examination without hindrance.
Governor Sule announced this decision during the inauguration of four newly appointed permanent secretaries and members of the Nasarawa State Disabilities Rights Commission at the Government House in Lafia.
He stated that the gesture is part of the state government’s broader efforts to cushion the economic hardships faced by citizens, particularly in the education sector.
The governor also disclosed plans to refund students who had already paid their NECO registration fees.
In addition to the NECO fee payment, the state government is set to distribute food items as palliatives to students in tertiary institutions, further demonstrating its commitment to supporting education at all levels.
These initiatives are part of Governor Sule’s comprehensive strategy to enhance educational opportunities and promote human capital development in Nasarawa State.
