Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru at the Ishieke campus during an unscheduled visit this week.

In a bid to improve learning conditions, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru has promised to upgrade the infrastructure at Ebonyi State University (EBSU), particularly at the Ishieke campus. During an unscheduled visit this week, the Governor expressed shock at the poor state of some buildings. He announced plans to demolish the dilapidated ones and construct a modern faculty building for Engineering and Environmental Sciences.

Governor Nwifuru, an alumnus of the university, recalled joining the Faculty of Technical and Vocational Education in 2008, saying he never expected to see the place in such poor condition. He also approved the immediate provision of a 500 kVA transformer to resolve electricity problems on campus. He encouraged students to take their studies seriously and assured them that better facilities would be available soon. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael Awoke, led the Governor on the inspection tour, alongside other university officials.
