The Nigerian Women in Agriculture Progressive and Development Initiative (NWAPDI) has unveiled the Sovereign AgroTrade System to transform the country’s agricultural economy.
The Sovereign AgroTrade System is said to be a groundbreaking digital and physical trade infrastructure designed to connect Nigerian farmers, especially women and youth, directly to national and international markets.
NWAPDI’s National Coordinator, Omolara Svensson, stated this at a news conference on Tuesday in Abuja. She said that the Sovereign AgroTrade System has four major innovations, AgriXchange Marketplace, which is a secure, farmer–first classifieds and auction platform enabling fair market-driven pricing.
Svensson said AgriCert, another innovation, is a blockchain–backed certification system ensuring quality, traceability and trust for local and export buyers. She added that NwapdiGrow, another innovation, is a digital micro-finance and resource platform enabling farmers to access capital, inputs and training. “FarmAssure ERP is a farm management and analytics tool empowering farmers to optimise production and meet buyer standards. This is not just a trading platform, it is an economic sovereignty framework for Nigeria’s agriculture sector,” she claimed.
