The Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR), Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, has welcomed scientists from Accelerated Varietal Improvement and Seed Delivery of Legumes and Cereals in Africa (AVISA) and the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT). IAR hosted the teams as part of its research activities done in collaboration with other teams.
Receiving the teams, Prof. Nafiu Abdu, IAR’s Deputy Director, who represented Prof. Ado Yusuf, the Executive Director, appreciated the scientists’ visit, highlighting their commitment to improving agricultural research.
Yusuf reassured them of IAR’s steady commitment to improving food security and benefiting farmers in Africa.
The scientists visited several places within the IAR Research Farm, Samaru, including the Regional and National Variety Trials, Breeding Population Development plots, and Regional Disease Screening Trials.
