The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) conducted a computer-based promotional examination on Thursday for 6,000 directorate cadre staff of the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC), including candidates from the UK, US, India, and Egypt.
JAMB Registrar, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, described the initiative as a bold step in embracing technology to enhance transparency and efficiency in civil service promotions. He noted the CBT format is user-friendly, with candidates quickly adapting to the system.
Federal Civil Service Commission Chairman, Prof Adetunji Olaopa, said it was the first time the commission used CBT for promotions, marking a significant modernisation of civil service assessments.
The exercise, conducted in 10 FCT centres, was smooth, well-coordinated, and monitored with CCTV to ensure credibility.
Dr Hussaini Adamu, FCSC, Commissioner for FCT and Niger, confirmed that candidates preferred the CBT method over traditional pen-and-paper examinations due to its efficiency and transparency. The pilot is designed to inform the future nationwide implementation of digital examinations across the civil service.
