Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, appointing Professor Abubakar Sani Sambo as the new Commissioner for Education and Barrister Gloria Ibrahim as Commissioner for Youth Development.
The governor also redeployed the outgoing Commissioner for Education, Professor Sani Bello (Mainan Zazzau), to head the newly established Ministry of Information.
According to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa, the appointments and redeployments take immediate effect.
Professor Abubakar Sambo, a distinguished academic and energy expert, brings decades of experience to the Ministry of Education. A recipient of the National Productivity Order of Merit (1997) and Officer of the Order of the Niger (2000), Professor Sambo has previously served as Vice Chancellor of Kaduna State and Bauchi State Universities. He was also Director General of the Energy Commission of Nigeria (2005–2012) and Special Adviser to the President on Energy in 2011.
Governor Sani expressed confidence in Professor Sambo’s capacity to reposition the education sector, citing key priorities such as expanded access, infrastructure rehabilitation, teacher training, ICT integration, girl-child education, and school safety.
In a related development, Barrister Gloria Ibrahim has been appointed Commissioner for Youth Development. A respected legal practitioner and mediator, Ibrahim is the Principal Legal Practitioner at Glownom Legal Consult. She holds an LL.B from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and is affiliated with professional bodies, including the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).
Governor Sani urged her to initiate innovative programmes aimed at equipping the youth of Kaduna State with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving, technology-driven world.
He congratulated both commissioners on their appointments and wished them guidance from above in their new roles.
