The Kano State Government has signed an agreement with the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) to strengthen accountability and deliver targeted support to the education sector.
Central to the partnership is the Kano State Education Emergency Response Strategy, which is expected to address learning disruptions, improve donor coordination, and channel resources towards critical educational needs across the state.
Speaking at the signing, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf described the pact as a “historic milestone,” stressing that it would help close gaps in service delivery and ensure that investments in education and other sectors translate into measurable outcomes for citizens.
“This framework provides a structured platform for collaboration, ensuring that every Naira and pound spent delivers tangible results,” he said.
The FCDO Development Director in Nigeria, Cynthia Rowe, who signed on behalf of the UK Government, reaffirmed Britain’s support for education in Kano, citing it as a driver of inclusive growth and human capital development.
